Chris McGrath was born in New York. He's been interested in science fiction and fantasy art since childhood. After seeing the paintings of Frank Frazetta he knew that he wanted to be a book cover illustrator for science fiction and fantasy novels. After graduating from SVA in NYC, Chris gave guitar lessons for several years before beginning his career in 2001. He has done covers for New York Times bestselling authors Jim Butcher, Brandon Sanderson, Kat Richardson, and Rob Thurman to name a few.
